Workshops are virtual, in-person, or hybrid active-learning experiences facilitated by top experts that enable higher education leaders to hone new skills, connect with peers, and put knowledge into action. Participants discuss their experiences, complete inquiry assignments, and develop plans that apply knowledge learned to challenges at their institutions. Depending on format, workshops can last anywhere from one to two day or four to eight weeks.
There is both a moral and an economic need among colleges and universities to eliminate equity gaps and create more inclusive organizations in order to move the needle forward for all. This workshop (four sessions of two hours each) acclimates mid- and senior-level college leaders to the evidence imperative in postsecondary education, especially related to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and organizational viability. Attendees will become familiar with available data sources and tools, developing the capacity to glean insights quickly. The workshop will use findings from ACE’s Race and Ethnicity in Higher Education, (REHE) project, case studies, and exercises focused on translating data into actions that will benefit students and institutions.

Tuesday, June 21, noon–2:00 p.m. ET
The first session provides an overview of the workshop, during the course of which attendees will create action plans to develop and implement at their institutions. Leaders will guide participants through a foundational exploration of the DEI evidence imperative; findings from REHE on leadership, faculty, and staff; and helpful national data sources.
Tuesday, June 28, noon–2:00 p.m. ET
This session focuses on the postsecondary education pipeline. Attendees will examine REHE findings related to students in the K–12 system, explore the growing body of post-traditional students, and consider specific inquiries relevant to attendees’ own institutions.
Tuesday, July 12, noon–2:00 p.m. ET
This session explores the success of enrolled students, focusing on helping institutions contextualize traditional and contemporary dimensions of student success to their unique student populations and identities.
Tuesday, July 26, noon–2:00 p.m. ET
The final session considers the outcomes of postsecondary students, including student borrowing patterns, graduation rates, and alumni pathways and careers. Participants will work on the action plans they developed to actualize lessons learned into improvements at the institutional level.
